If you’re watching solely on a computer, just apply a de-interlace filter to it.

That looks like perfectly normal interlacing. View the video on your TV and it will look normal.

There aint no such thing as a prosumer uncompressed system in my book. Once you get to that level, you’re in the land of “Pro” with a capital P.
Give us a bit more info about what you want to do, and we can help, but for Pro level HD work, you’re looking at really really expensive gear, especially with the decks!

Final Touch is pretty darn good. I’m liking it a lot, and in development are a set of plugins for it, that I’m sure anyone using it will find very useful indeed.

You can only shoot interlaced or fake progressive (resolution is half that of real progressive) on the Z1, you can’t actually shoot the progressive footage asked for. The camera doesn’t do 24p so that’s not an option either – it just does a very bad fake. And indeed, you’d have to add pulldown back in to master back to HDV, which is not a wise thing seeings that rendering back to HDV incurs quite a large quality drop. So…. What is the intended destination for this video, as that will provide us with more info so we can figure out a solution…

If you don’t have a deck, you can always use your camera as a firewire DV to video converter. I guess many of us started that way! Your DVX will work for this. That leaves a monitor. I use a little JVC 9″ and that’s quite nice, although small, but at least it can double up as a mobile monitor when you’re out on a shoot.

Yes, that’s nice, but overkill. I’d just get the cheapest G5 desktop, a single 23″ screen, a DSR-11 or DSR-25, A nice PAL monitor. 2GB RAM is enough. A second internal SATA drive 500GB will be more than enough to get you going.
