  • Make suggestions on a FCP SD / HD system

    Hello Cow community,

I hope the holidays treated you well. Can any one give me some suggestions on a Basic / Prosumer / Pro FCP system, that handles both uncompress & compressed SD / HD. I think I might be in the market for a new system. I would like to do more HD work. Also give me some suggestions on VTR’s, production monitors (tube or LCD) and capture cards

go to http://www.promax.com and look at their turnkey systems. Those are good setups.

There aint no such thing as a prosumer uncompressed system in my book. Once you get to that level, you’re in the land of “Pro” with a capital P.

Give us a bit more info about what you want to do, and we can help, but for Pro level HD work, you’re looking at really really expensive gear, especially with the decks!

Take a look at the AJA Kona LH. I have heard good things, and am considering one myself. It leaves all options open in one card: uncompressed SD via SDI and Component, and also uncompressed HD in most (if not all) flavours. Reasonably priced, but the hard drives are where the expense is.
