    I Have a HDV deck (HVR-M10U) and a sony HDV camera.

    The producer wants to shoot all Broll in HDV29.97 and all Interviews in HD 23.98. The HDV camera doesn’t shoot 23.98 and, The reason for shooting the interviews in HD Progressive is that the GFX house tells me when they chroma key out the Greenscreens the interviews will be shot over it will have a cleaner look than an interlaced frame rate. At HD resolution how much of this is true?

    So I’m faced yet again with a FCP project with two different frame rates. Should I try to convert my 29.97 HDV broll footage to 23.98 and combine it with the HD23.98 footage?

    Or… should I Convert the 23.98HD Interview footage to 29.97 after the chromakey to match my HDV29.97 footage?

    Any Suggestions?

    What format will this project be mastered on? That is most likely your answer.

    You can only shoot interlaced or fake progressive (resolution is half that of real progressive) on the Z1, you can’t actually shoot the progressive footage asked for. The camera doesn’t do 24p so that’s not an option either – it just does a very bad fake. And indeed, you’d have to add pulldown back in to master back to HDV, which is not a wise thing seeings that rendering back to HDV incurs quite a large quality drop. So…. What is the intended destination for this video, as that will provide us with more info so we can figure out a solution…

    The final Deliverable should be a 1080i29.97 HDCAM
