Thanks to everyone for responding.

I tried it again on my desktop and it’s working properly.

I’ll go back to my laptop again and see what’s going on. That’s where the issue presented itself. I’ll also try the same .mp4 imported clip… just in case this makes a diff.

I’ll report back.

It doesn’t sound like the same prob. I can capture DV, I can control the camera via the HDV capture, it just won’t capture.

I also posted on Sony’s forum, so I’m hoping I’ll get a response.

was your “faulty” card able to capture DV footage? my current config allows me to capture flawlessly using the DV capture of Vegas. The issues are only seen in the HDV capture.

Here’s an update:

I connected the same camera to my notebook, which runs Vegas 9.0e Pro on XP Pro and I can capture perfectly.

What could be the problem with the desktop Vista-64/Vegas-64 config which prevents me from capturing?

I understand. I was given the .mov file. since this method is not working, I’m going to plan B. Get the original tape and footage and bring it into Vegas directly.

what could I be doing wrong?

I’ve tried importing twice, no luck. As mentioned, the preview screen in the “Capture” window remains blue. The capture app does see the camera and does control it but when I click the “start capture” button, camera plays, screen remains blue and sessions are not imported into clips and I can’t find any signs of an .m2t file(s).

Not sure if this is a hint but the “start capture” button doesn’t appear “depressed” when “capturing”.

Any ideas?

Thanks Steve, I ‘ll try enabling the scene selection as I don’t want to painstakingly split this video (many scenes) if I don’t have to. I’ll try it later this aft and report back.

Should I not be seeing the video in the preview box of the capture app as I’m capturing? It remains blue.
