Was that the first time you put the DVD in the DVD Player? Sometimes a player will “remember” a DVD and resume play from the last time you played the disc. Is it possible the player thought the DVD was already played before?

Check the DVD’s settings to see if “Auto Resume” is turned on (it could have a different name depending on the player/manufacturer). If it is turned ON, try turning it off to see if it will always start at the First-Play item…

Out of curiosity, what is your process for burning your DVD’s? Do you create DVD Folders from DLP, and then burn the folders to disc, or do you create an IMAGE file, and then burn the IMAGE file to disc?

What software are you using to burn?

If you use PowerDVD to play your DVD from your hard drive, does it play the menu first, or the Title first?

In the connection window, make sure the FIRST-PLAY “handle” is connected to the first-play item.

Combine the commercials into one Title with a chapter mark at the start of each commercial. Then in Encore create a Title Playlist to play Cartoon-segment-1 / combined-commercials-1 / Cartoon-segment-2 / etc…

Burn this to DVD Folders on your hard drive.

Then open the DVD in PGCedit, and double-click the combined-commercials Title, and for PG Playback, select SHUFFLE (you can select from Sequential / Random / Shuffle). Also change the number for “programs” accordingly to how many additional commercials you want to play.

Check how it plays in PowerDVD and a Set-top DVD Player…

This might not help (depending on the types of buttons you are using), but if you only use button highlights, the video menu will not have to be re-rendered…

Nope, I don’t believe Ulead has Mac versions of their software. But today, alot more folks have both platforms and/or a Mac running Windows software.

You can also go with Ulead’s DVD MovieFactory 6 Plus. Pretty good value for “basic’ HD-DVD Authoring (imho), and it also includes Blu-ray burning (direct from video source).

Version 2, or an earlier version?

Check if the loop is set to “Forever”, and make sure you don’t start the menu using “Overrides”
