If you are using auto-activate buttons to do a “switched menu” technique, then don’t hover your mouse pointer over a button. Use the navigational arrows instead (up/down/left/right).

I’m not positive, but I think he means something like “easter eggs” — secret buttons (or combinations of buttons) that take you to “extras”

This might work (off the top of my head…)

Make two timelines:

#1 – Main timeline until the cutover
#2 – timeline that has both the deleted scene and regular main title ending (put a chapter mark at the end of the deleted scene)

End of MAIN-TIMELINE points to Timeline #2 – Chapter mark for regular ending

Two menu buttons:

No Deleted Scene Button: points to Main Timeline
Deleted Scene Button: points to Main Timeline, but add “Override” to point to Start of Timeline #2

NOTE: as mentioned earlier in this thread, there will be a slight pause between Timeline #1 and Timeline #2 (regardless of regular or deleted-scene version)

The tricky part is if you also need a “Play All” Button to play the entire video…

Is there anything “different” at that specific time (5-min 13-sec)? Perhaps a chapter mark, or when you encoded was there a transition or anything at (or near) that mark?

I work on the PC and utilize programs that allow the addition of a “Data” folder.

If you do add DVD-ROM stuff, just make sure you burn the DVD-VIDEO section in the correct order/sequence so that your DVD Player will be able to playback the DVD-VIDEO properly.

Hi,

For the first question, do you have several separate clips (called Titles), or do you have one long Title with several “Chapters” (jump-to markers within the Title)?

For your playback, what should happen after selecting the Chapter?

1) continue playing until the end of the Title
2) stop playing at the end of that chapter, and go back to the chapter-selection menu

For your second question, you can calculate the encoding settings based on your entire video duration. other things come into play if you plan to include things such as (motion menus, multiple video angles, multiple audio tracks, and DVD-ROM data). Basically, you have to subtract out the “extra” stuff to see how much space is needed for the main video track(s).

There are bitrate calculators around the net. I use the one at videohelp.com/calc.htm

Since it is “Overscan”, then there’s not much you can do about already recorded video (you can scale it down to fit everything on the screen). Notice the info is still there if you play it on your computer (i.e. you will see the footage all the way to the edges on the computer).

In the future, plan for the outer edges to be “hidden” when framing your shots.

Also plan for that when authoring or adding text to menus — look at help topics on “Title Safe” or “Action Safe” — it just imposes a dotted line around the edges to give you guidance on what will be viewable during TV playback (you can adjust the “safe” margins in preferences — because they change from TV to TV).

Can you describe what you mean by “trimming”? Do you mean you cannot see the “Outer Edges” of the original video (known as “Overscan”)? Or do you mean trimming in the sense that your video duration is not as long as it should be?
