You can do it that way and apply the color change to either of the tracks, or both, so each half will then appear different.

Thank You Rick, I will download it when I’m sure I have enough data bandwidth, or on the 13th when my monthly allotment renews, and post back.

Yes, eagle–six–46–at–g–mail–dot–com (take out all the dashes, and of course convert the at and dot)

  • Jeff, have you done a Vegas reset recently and deleted the application cached data? That might help speed it up.

  • Jeff, is it possible you have two Chroma Keyer FX applied by error in perhaps a chain of other FX’s and have missed it?

    Hi Rick,

OK, I have some extra data bandwidth to get me through until the 13th, when my monthly allotment reloads, but not enough to do what I really would like to do. What I would like to do is get your original drone footage, and it looks like that file is about 2 gb. I don’t have enough data to download that file size until the 13th.

Would you be interested in uploading that file for me to download?

My plan was to take that file, edit it similar to your original video and include maybe 10 of your still images from your library and use the 3D Blind, spin transition as you have and render a 4K sample. None of this will ultimately help solve your problem, but if I again get acceptable results, it most likely will confirm there is something in your setup messing things up.

I don’t know if the file upload with this forum will accept the 1.9 gb file, or even if you want to mess with it. I will not be able to download it until the 13th.

BTW: have you done a full Vegas reset recently? If not maybe that would be a good idea and delete the application cache which sometimes makes Vegas behave in strange ways.

  • That’s interesting Jeff. Of course we can get it to work the opposite using the FX Bypass, but not the way you are describing. Maybe some screen shots would help.

Thank You Rick for the text specs. This confirms to me there is nothing in your drone footage that should be causing the problem. It’s constant frame rate, progressive, which is what I thought, but wanted to confirm.

I want to view your latest Youtube samples, but I just used my monthly data bandwidth and the isp has throttled me back to the point I cannot view Youtube at even 720p. I’m in the process of getting more bandwidth and will be back in a while.

    Hi Rick,

In Mediainfo select ‘View’, then select ‘Text’. It will look like this:

That setting will provide a screen display that looks like this:

Could you do this with your original drone footage file?

With the specs of your drone camera, I understand why you are not shooting 60p in 4K……the highest fps available is 30 fps. However you do have 60p in 1080p. If it were me, that is what I would be shooting for the type of drone footage you are shooting.

The 24p looks smooth for scenes like you have in your original car show example in 4K, as it is a slow camera move scene. However, when you rotate your drone around for a different direction or angle (like you do in your most recent samples), that movement becomes fast panning, and that is not good for 24p, it looks jerky. Fast panning isn’t that great for 60p, but panning will look smoother the faster our fps (more frames for second). Of course this means we need to render at 60 fps. The still images don’t care what the fps is, but your drone footage when making fast movements should look better at 1080-60p, than they will at 4K-24p. If all we were going to do is include very slow pans or camera moves, then the 24p may be acceptable. Just my thoughts.

Sadly, I’m running out of ideas, why I’m getting acceptable results (no pixelating in the stills) in 4K with the spin transition and you are not. Without us being able to figure that out and if you still want to use that transition, maybe shooting at 1080-60p in the drone and rendering in 1080-60p will provide better results.

Also, if I have the option, I always convert my photos to .png format before adding them in Vegas Pro. Vegas likes the .png format more than .jpg, although often there appears to be no great difference. For whatever reason, Vegas seems to do a better job down scaling large resolution photos in the .png format, even though I may shoot the original still photo in my camera as .jpg and then run them through my photo app (either PhotoShop, Affinity, or PaintShopPro) and saving them them to .png. Just my experience.

I agree Rick, those transitions, especially the 3D are pretty bad.

I usually use Variable bps to save file size for upload videos (I’m on a monthly allotment of bandwidth), but sometimes I will render out a video that just doesn’t look good or has some bad spots and then will use Constant and crank up the bps. So, I think it would be better to try it both ways to see what you like and regardless of others, go what what you feel works best for you.

I’m looking forward to seeing the Mediainfo on your drone source media when you have the time.

BTW: Just curious, why are you shooting 23.976 fps instead of something like 59.940 in your drone?

    Best Regards……George
