Some of the questions and suggestions we make, may not in themselves make an immediate improvement on your issue, but also they may lead to a better workflow and ultimately a solution. Our minds may be working in different ways, so what you think isn’t important another member may think it will lead to an improvement. Part of that is we may not have your problem, so it is a method of us trying to determine what the problem is so the fix can be applied.
I would start with the simplest fix first with a full program reset, hold down ‘Ctrl+Shift’ keys, while you double left click on the Vegas Pro desktop shortcut. A small window will appear. Check the box ‘Delete all cached application data’, then left click on ‘Yes’. This will reset Vegas Pro to it’s original installation settings and delete the pesky cached application data that will sometimes make Vegas do strange things.
1. What is your primary reason for using the ‘Split Trim Tool’ as opposed to the ‘Normal Edit Tool’?
2. What is the process and tools you use to get the same source media in both 720 HD and 1080 FHD?
3. Why do you use this method as opposed to using the built in Vegas Pro Proxy?
4. Please post a screenshot of the 720p source media you are using in your project?
5. Your project properties are 59.940 fps, and according to your workflow you replace that source media with 23.976 fps source media, which obviously is a mismatch, what is the logic of this? I do not understand.
6. You have ‘GPU acceleration of video processing in ‘Preferences’ > ‘Video’ set to ‘None’. What is the reason for this as opposed to selecting your NVidia GTX 1060?
7. What is your driver version number for your NVidia GTX 1060?

Hi Parsa,
I’m using Preset Manager 2.0 and it loads presets into VP13, VP15, and VP16. They are listed in FX in the ‘Filter Packages’ folder.
BTW, The last version of Vegas Pro that Sony produced was version 13, Vegas Pro is now owned and produced by Magix. You probably know that.

I have had too many things going on this morning and probably should not even be replying because I haven’t been very attentive. Re-reading your OP and your last post I realized your source is HD not SD.
It’s been a while, but I would match media to the source, then select a DVD widescreen template and let Vegas to it’s magic to conform your source to the DVD specs in the render template. However, if you don’t get a better reply from other members here, I would make a very short test render and burn to test before I committed to a full project based on my suggestion. In other words, I’m not sure and would have to spend more time or make test myself before you blindly follow my feeble lead!!!

Sorry Scott, I had my mind on rendering and took template straight past the beginning and went to the end.
Yes, you are correct, so use ‘Match Media’, and as mentioned above check to make sure Match Media has the correct field order ‘Upper field first’.

Set ‘Filters’ to ‘Off’
Then MainConcept MPEG-2 format will show a bunch of DVD templates.

Renato, as you favor the larger track height for your workflow, if you are not aware you can change the default height.
Increase the height of a video track to your preferred size. Right click in a blank space of the track header and select ‘Set default track properties’. Leave the check mark features as they are (unless of course you want to change one), and just press ‘OK’. That will save the height adjustment as your new default. So, whenever you add a new track, add another clip it will be the new height size default. Same when double left clicking on the track vertical slider (far right), double clicking will collapse the tracks and double left click will then expand the tracks to your newly set defaults. If you ever want to return to the installation defaults, go to ‘Set default track properties’, check the box ‘Restore original defaults’, click ‘OK’ and you are back. You probably already know about this feature, but if not, just a thought for you.

If you have your DVD plugged into a later model flat screen TV, I would think the improvement in upscaling is due to the tricks in the TV display, but I could be wrong about that. If you TV accepts h.264/mp4 files via USB, that would make for a test to determine how much the TV improves DVD as to how much the DVD player improves DVD display.

You cannot get behind the Full Screen display. If you have two monitors you can display Full Screen on the 2nd monitor while working with Vegas Pro in the Primary monitor.
If you don’t have 2 monitors, you can display the difference in a split screen display using Track Motion. Drag a sample clip from the Project Media bin to track 1. Then drag that same clip to track 2, and align it below track1. Press the Mute icon on the video track 2.
Click on the Track Motion icon in the track header of track 1. Move the screen alignment of the event in track1 to the left so only half of it shows in the preview window, the right half with be black/blank. Now click on the Mute icon in the track 2 header to unmute track 2. Now you see track 1 on the left and track 2 on the right.
Apply your magic to the event/clip in track 2.
When you go full screen you will see the before on the left and the after on the right.
