1. What version and build of Vegas Pro are you using?
2. Screenshot of your Project Properties?
3. What recorded your source media, camera make and model, or smart phone, or screen capture program?
4. Screenshot of your source media specs, using the free app Mediainfo in text mode (View tab, then Text mode)?
5. What CPU, RAM, GPU model, driver, and vRam?
6. What Operating System?
7. Explain more about what you have in your project, and your workflow?
8. Larger screenshot of your Vegas display?

With this information it is more likely that a member can help assist you. Thank You.

This is the audio specs from a avi file I have hanging around, that plays fine in Vegas

Here is a avi file that I processed through Handbrake to mp4 (h.264) and it p;ays fine in Vegas

These are two audio specs, if you can match or come close should work fine. Although Vegas will render AC-3, I don’t think it really likes to decode it. I could be wrong, I’ll admit my skills are limited when it comes to audio.

Hi Carlos,

1. Most likely the audio in your avi file is not compatible with Vegas Pro. You may want to use a free app such as Handbrake or MediaER Tool Kit to convert the file to include audio that Vegas will like. You could also use a free app called Mediainfo to display the specs of your source avi media and then post a screenshot of the specs here for others to look at. Place Mediainfo in Text mode (in the ‘View’ tab, then load your source file. You can download Mediainfo here: https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

2. There are several icons above the preview window display. If you click on the icon that looks like 2 computers, that should display full screen.

3. There are many tutorials on Youtube and here is a website that has some excellent tutorials: https://www.moviestudiozen.com/free-tutorials

4. It is not Sony Vegas Pro 15, it is Magix Vegas Pro 15. Sony sold Vegas Pro to Magix (Germany) several years ago and the last Sony version was 13, everything since then, including the latest version 16 has been produced by Magix.

Hi Sam,

That is a very well written and respectful post. I’m glad we got it sorted out and appreciate your apology. I realize 2nd languages can cause us to trip occasionally. I try to avoid posting in other than English, because when I do I need an online translator and then wonder how I come off in a language I do not understand. So you do much better writing in English than I would do writing in your first language.

And, although you may not be familiar with this, my first language is Redneck, and I have been known to often slaughter the English language!!

In addition to Dimitrios’s suggestion about the selection edit tool, and my suggestion to increase the track height, you can also double left click on the timeline vertical slider (far right) which will collapse the tracks. Then the opacity bar is not visible and not an option. I often need to use this to gain display real estate on the timeline. Double left clicking the timeline vertical slider again will toggle back the track height to default settings.

Actually David did explain in his post, “You seem to misunderstand the monitoring options. To display to a broadcast monitor or TV (client monitor), Resolve absolutely requires a Blackmagic I/O card or device.” in this part he explains the way to connect a second monitor for the purpose of grading or displaying. “To display full screen to a computer monitor there is both a keyboard command and a menu command.” in this part he explains how to get the full screen on a computer monitor, which you are already aware.

If you want to have a second monitor to see the preview without covering the Resolve display on your computer monitor, then you need the Blackmagic card.

If you want more real estate to enlarge the viewer, you can go Workspace > Dual Screen > On, then Workspace > Dual Screen > Full Screen Timeline. This will utilize both your computer monitors and allow you to enlarge the size of the Viewer, yet keep (actually) gain timeline space. But, perhaps you are a ware of this.
