I was just about to respond that we’re only capturing two channels of audio anyway when you corrected.

However, having him update QT may help these issues. And an update of FCP might as well. Something we were and he was, trying to avoid.

Again, though, is there any sequence setting that would “merge” two tracks of audio into one? It even occurs when he opens the file in the viewing window…..only one track of merged audio appears.

    thank you.

Well darn. I love finding the ragged edges of a program.
    The “handy-work” doesn’t require too much time…
    Thanks for your help. Geof

In response to the previous posts:

    1) I’m not certain that this is a software problem. We have other DSR-45 decks that work fine with my system. It would be interesting to see if this software fix would help this specific deck. Might give it a try.

    2) Our engineer is a former Sony bench engineer….so he’s as perplexed as we are.

    Thanks for your insight….geof.

We have had very few problems with our existing FCP stations on a variety of Power Mac flavors. My current machine is a dual 2GHz with 2 GB RAM and Final Cut 4.5. Once we went with FCP from an old machine based edit system, we have never looked back.

I have just installed Tiger on an older Mac, a Dual 1GHZ with 1.5GB RAM and then installed FCP 5.0 On several occassions FCP has crashed. Haven’t really given it a thorough run thru. These types of problems are common with new configurations and software and I’m not overly concerned…..

What resolution is your plasma screen? Many times, when going to a plasma or lcd monitor, the best results can be obtained from using the “native” resolution of the plasma….such as 1024 x 768, etc. Also, is the plasma running 720p or 1080i? All this information is needed to get an ideal resolution.

We have bought from Crucial.com and otherworld computing. Both have been successful.
From what I understand, you must upgrade RAM in G5’s by pairs….meaning you will have to buy two 512MB chips if you want 1GB.

We have multiple LaCie drives…at last count around 12… that are in some sort of use almost daily.
We have only had 2 or 3 failures and LaCie has always quickly repaired/replaced them. Lucky we have multiple backups of our projects. I also have a GTech drive that I am very happy with. But with our DVCAM work flow, these LaCies work fine.
