I find it entirely adequate Have calibrated as suggested, but in all honesty I don’t see a major difference between the calibrated display compared with preset configuration.

Have you applied de-noise prior to keying? When importing RAW you loose the in camera noise reduction hence the need to apply de-noise in FCPX.

Interestingly, I tried to import some DVCAM tapes into FCPX today and although the DV recorder was recognised it did not show any clips, just a black screen. Transport controllers;s were all inactive. This was the same source as used before so I don’t know why it is not working and can only surmise that there has been a change in the FCPX import compatibility. However, the good news is that I am able to import into iMovie which also recognises the clip breaks and then bring those files into FCPX.

I have taken the Firewire output from a Sony recorder/player via a FW/TB2 adapter into FCPX without problems other than it does not split clips, you have to stop/start for each new clip.

Thanks for the responses. I ended up getting a BenQ SW271 monitor and have calibrated it using an x-Rite i1 Display Pro. Interestingly, the calibrated display is VERY close to the monitor’s in built Rec709 setting. Colours appear to be accurate although the black level could be a little lower.

Thanks for the suggestion Jeremy. I eventually found the cause of the problem, it was that Command Post had not run on boot up as normal. Command Post is required to allow the FCPX Colour Wheels to be adjusted using the Tangent Ripple and the program has a check box to enable waveform drawing

Overly fast panning causes jitter, keep panning speed to allow around 8 second for an item on one side of scene to reach the other side is a good rule of thumb.

I have just gone through the process of migrating to a new iMac using the migration assistant. However it is important that you deactivate any plugins that you may have installed before staring the migration. Once competed you will then have to enter the activation codes for them on the new iMac. I found this out the hard way having missed deactivating my Coremelt plugins – I then had to go back to the original machine and go through the deactivation process on that prior to activation on the new iMac. If you have only one instance of a plugin having been install (ie, on one machine only) the it may be likely that you will not have to deactivate that as most plugs can be installed on up to two machines.

September 15, 2019 at 9:54 pm in reply to: Removing plug-in effects from FCPX Effects PanelI was having problems with the LUT browser showing grossly over-saturated, duo-colour images. The surprising thing was that until I installed the latest complete package of all Cormelts’ plug-ins as an upgrade did the problem resolve itself. Leaving unwanted items out when installing the upgrade did not cure the problem and it was only until I went back to the very original versions of each plugin that I had and then did each subsequent upgrade for them before installing the latest complete package did I succeed in curing the problem, thanks to Coremelt for their quick and helpful responses. Anyhow, the good news is that all is now working.
