The only HD format on disc is Blu-ray. HD DVD is a dead format. Encore can be used to author Blu-ray discs but you will also need a Blu-ray burner to actually produce the discs. Depending on the length of your video you may be able to burn a Blu-ray onto a regular DVD disc, but these can only be played in a Blu-ray player. I haven’t actually done this myself so I don’t know all the details as to how this is done – perhaps someone with more experience will chime in. In the meantime, a Google search may help.

What are you wanting as a final product – a Blu-ray disc or a DVD? If it’s a Blu-ray, building your menus at 1920 x 1080 is correct. If you want a widescreen DVD, the menus should be built at 872 x 486. It also depends on what you are viewing the results on – the viewer window in Encore is not intended to show the finished quality.

Have you found a solution to your problem? I just spent over two hours troubleshooting a similar issue with a project which uses a lot of still photos, both colour and B&W. I think my problem was a B&W photo that wasn’t in RGB Colour mode. Even though the photo has been in a bin since I began working on the project a week ago, it never became a problem until I put it into the timeline. I could play everything else in the timeline but as soon as the playhead was put onto that shot Premiere would crash. Are you using any photos or graphics? If so, check to make sure they’re all RGB and not Greyscale or CMYK.

As far as I know, DVD authoring software on a Mac is pretty much limited to DVDSP and Adobe Encore, both of which are no longer being updated. I think the general consensus is that although they’re still widely used, DVDs are becoming less and less mainstream. Also, if you’re using the very latest Mac OS you may find that neither of these work as expected, if at all. Good luck.

If you want to see her waist, zoom out a bit and tilt down until you’re satisfied with the framing.

I would either zoom out or move the camera back to get the desired framing on the subject. Any edges of the green screen can easily be masked off (garbage matte).

If you want an HD version on disc you will have to make a Blu-ray… DVD is SD. DVDSP does not make Blu-ray. Don’t be fooled by the HD-DVD settings in DVDSP – that’s a dead format.
If the festival will accept it, you could try exporting out of Adobe or FCP as an H.264 file and send that on a USB stick.

Is there an option to say “no”? You may have to install the old version first and then re-install CC2014.
