  • Which DVD Authoring software to use on Mac ???

Posted by Keith Gray on January 9, 2015 at 9:56 am

    Hi CC community,

I work on a Mac and have to author a set of dvds’s quite soon. I was using DVD studio pro a few years back but haven’t authored a dvd since so want to use the software thats best and most up to date to make my job easier. If you have any advise it would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Keith

As far as I know, DVD authoring software on a Mac is pretty much limited to DVDSP and Adobe Encore, both of which are no longer being updated. I think the general consensus is that although they’re still widely used, DVDs are becoming less and less mainstream. Also, if you’re using the very latest Mac OS you may find that neither of these work as expected, if at all. Good luck.

In my opinion the best encoder for DVD is BitVice and I’ve used it on a MacPro for some years, getting very good quality DVD’s from both SD and HD material. The BitVice downscale from HD to SD is particularly good.

DVD studio pro is still working under MAC OS 10.10.
