I’ll be interested to know about your experience as you discover the joys of editing with Vegas (also what you miss about FCP).

Your system should be fine assuming the OS is Windows XP or 2000, though faster is always better (I doubt that will ever change).

Hitting Print Screen stores a capture of your desktop into your buffer.
Open a document in a paint program, hit Ctrl/v and it will paste in.
Alt/PrintScreen captures just the active window.

Are you using the ‘internal’ capture application that opens as a tab on the Vegas interface? That’s the one for HDV capture.
