    Thanks guys,

I kinda thought it would be something logical and simplistic, funny thing is I did a quick on and off of the 3d in layer 8 and it worked also, but, I do understand the logic and have followed your direction.

Actually Dave I kinda need the lights as I am doing a traveling spot on the character.

John, I like your little bit of Edison logic even though I am more of a Tesla fan

    Hi there Dave,

I have copied the properties of the layers of concern also, I moved the layers in concern above the camera, no change.

Well, I closed it down and opened a new comp, threw out some text, turned on the spotlight, opened for shadows, created a floor and, Wallla, light, shadows no problemo

Tried a text in the original comp, absolutely nadda.

If anyone comes up with something throw it at me, other than that, have a great New Year and thanks for being the community you are.

Hey Michael, I tried to no avail, matter of fact I even did a 360, also, in the views it shows the framework of the light to be much higher still nadda. I’m going to close this project for the moment and just open a text 3d, just to see if the lighting works there.

    Hi Dave,

I did not have camera on but, after getting your feed have turned it on and still no change, have enclosed a png of my settings.

    Tks mate

  • Yes Michael, I did try that but, there was a fact I seem to have omitted. The head needed to be actually attached, at least optically to the body to share the movements the body was going thru, That is why I was thinking of the parent tool, as mentioned in the subject title.

If the child does what the parent does then, by making the head the child is there away I can manipulate, to have the head do as the body does?

Or, it’s funny how, that when one writes, idea’s present themselves, hmm.

The thought I just had is, being that I am creating the heads in PS and they just happen to be the same size and shape, if I place them directly on top of each other. I can therefor leave the arms out the equation (they are moving in the animation) and reverse the heads out of the body.

My next step would be to import them into AE, create the body animation pre-comp then, duplicate that pre-comp. I would then place the first head anchor point on the nose, add a few keys by doing a few minor rotations in line with the body movements, then, loop and pre-comp the head with the body. But, before I do that being that all the heads are in the same position, I would copy and paste the keys (loop) from the anchor point and rotation transforms to the next head.

It seems a little simplistic but, I am going to give it a try. I am also still open to responses regarding any other way, as i.e. heads are not always same shape and size.

    Tks

Hey Dave it seems to be working, I created the audio keyframes, applied my top lip then bottom lip sync using puppet tool and just duping and moving into position, it really looks like a great sync to the words of the song.

    Tks for your help Gary

If I understand your question correctly Dave, and you asking what I will render it to,it will probably something real simplistic like QT
