  • Who turned the lights out??

Posted by Gary Jarvis on December 30, 2011 at 4:44 pm

    CS5
    So, I brought in 3 layers in a PS psd, I then tuned on the 3D boxes in each of the layers and opened lights-spotlight. In one of the layers I hit on cast shadows, in light options;
    Intensity 94
    color white
    cone 90
    cast shadows on
    82%
    9

No matter what I do there is no light, could anyone tell me what I am doing wrong please

    Tks

Your light is behind your layer. Move your light more towards the front of the comp (-400 in the z-axis, for example) and you should be able to see it.

Hey Michael, I tried to no avail, matter of fact I even did a 360, also, in the views it shows the framework of the light to be much higher still nadda. I’m going to close this project for the moment and just open a text 3d, just to see if the lighting works there.

Well, I closed it down and opened a new comp, threw out some text, turned on the spotlight, opened for shadows, created a floor and, Wallla, light, shadows no problemo

Tried a text in the original comp, absolutely nadda.

If anyone comes up with something throw it at me, other than that, have a great New Year and thanks for being the community you are.

The composition’s “Draft 3D” switch is on. This is the switch with the Cube and * just to the left of the “Shy” switch.

This disables camera Depth of Field and Lights.

Whoa Darby, you’re the man, that’s exactly what is causing the situation.

Thanks mate and a happy and healthy New Year to you and yours

    All the best Gary
