There are some PC apps that will work with 720p50, such as one from Cineform I believe, but if you are using FCP, then 1080i50 is it, or the most official way at least.

You can transfer clips directly from the camera through FireWire, yes, or you can put the cards into a G4 laptop that has a PC Card slot. Other various devices may or not work. I personally have not tried anything else, other than the official Panasonic P2 5 slot USB device.

FCP v5.1 added pulldown removal during import. The only thing missing is 720 (25p, 25pn, 50p) support.

The camera doesn’t stream video out the FireWire port when recording in native mode. When you record 25P on the 200E, you get 2:2 pulldown.

This should be considered an unofficial option until a DVCPRO HD 720p50 codec arrives. We are making the 720p50 type frames look similar to 720p60 type frames so that the currently available DVCPRO HD 720p60 codec will play them. I tried this method with 720p50 and 720p25 MXF sample files and it seems to work, but your mileage may vary. As for FCP, recording in 25PN is probably your best bet.

The ability to export pieces of a P2 clip has not been implemented yet, but it should appear soon, along with a few other things.

Any special characters in your volume name (anything other than letters or numbers)?

Driver issue. The second card might have been recognized but not mounted. To check, do the following:
    1. Go into the Finder and select Utilities from the Go menu (or type shift-option-U).
    2. Open the Disk Utility application.
    3. Look on the top-left side of the Disk Utility window and there will be a list of recognized volumes. If one is grayed out, select it and then click the Mount button at the top.

This is described in more detail on page 77 of the HVX200 manual.

HD Log Gold is $700, not $800. And I suspect that things may still improve.
