this is the Quicktime Gamma bug- you are jumping from RGB to YUV for processing in FCP and it does not like it.

you can search on here for answers, there are a couple of thousand posts that discuss this. Your issue has a lot to do with which hardware and software versions you are running- newer is better when dealing with this issue.

It has been mentioned that 24p is considered to be 23.98 in North America.
if its not 23.98 it is 24.0 and that frame rate is considered “24 true”

if you need to CONFORM between these 2 frame rates

Open Cinema Tools
File open your video clip
Little button at bottom right of open file window says ” conform” – Click it.
choose 23.98.
click OK.

I checked my original notes.

The max allowable size of the SD Memory card in the first release of the HVX200 was 64MB, it has to be that size MB size or less SD card- nothing else will work.

if I remember correctly- the HVX manual states the SD card needs to be something less that 64MB but it has been awhile since I looked.

Understand that HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is called that because it simplifies the process of connectivity on the user side, but with that ease means something is lost in the translation.

HDMI was originally designed as a computer interface connection, not intentionally for video usage. Any ancillary data in the video stream is lost, including Timecode,metadata, even VANC info and machine control are discarded by the HDMI interface.

PsF is the legacy issue, P is the future and right now you need a little help figuring out the new stuff, (hell you got PsF correct, that is far better than most do)

Incorrect- where did you ever get that Idea from? – HDSDI is Digital Component- 3 Wire on your display is the analog version of that same signal – there should be NO difference in picture quality from the Kona card.

go read the post in the Kona forum- I believe it is a setup issue
you Need to use the Kona Control to be setup correctly.

the windows format called FAT32 volumes have a 2GB file size limit, NTFS can see larger physical sizes but is not viewable on older systems and the drives will need to be reformatted to change them.

its $$ for the macdrive or reformat all of the windows volumes to NTFS

SInce that is the default for 1080 HD delivery, any good looking display will handle the content.

“Then I discovered HDMI can not handle psf streams.” Partially Correct. That would depend on the device, some allow for P vs PsF signal conversion, but not ever (IMHO) on a cheap consumer display. They are expecting 60i materials

but the simple answer is YES HDMI is always progressive,

Its the default signal for 1080 HD, Its not your TV.

Your display can handle either type of signal and my guess is that you will not be able to look at the 1080p signal over the Component connections- it will have to be PsF.

It is my understanding that only the current versions of the SRW5500 and SRW5800 decks support DBL speed capture via the K3.

FYI it will need to be done in VTR Exchange, and yes there are more codecs available than ProResHQ.
