most single link HDSDI cards only support 8 channels of embedded audio.

then why are you asking if it is ?
Your IOHD is not malfunctioning, the chip set in the IoHD is designed for single link 4:2:2 data and was not designed to handle what is a dual link architecture and bandwidth that 444 data requires due to the limitations of the buss and chip architecture and the Firewire Buss.
You can output the PR444 codec via either the K3 and the LHi without issues.

“I have not been able to successfully configure a Kona card and a Red Rocket in the same computer, it is my understanding that is not possible.

There are 1080 60p setups with the Kona as most 4:4:4 masters are designed around Film deliverables not video finish so don’t think about working at 60i for anything other than the final delivery.
To get those easy setups you will have to do FULL install of the Kona driver software, those setups are not in the base install, then you will need to turn them on in the Kona Control Panel.

Max.
Working in 4:4:4 requires a bit of fortitude, data rates and monitoring can quickly get out of control.There are multiple codecs that allow for this workflow, be it RGB or Y’Cb’Cr’. Your content originates as Linear or Log, Video or Film, Tape or Tapeless etc.
You cannot truly monitor 4:4:4 content without a 3G or Dual Link caliber display (your cinema display is only 8bit) and Video output card from Aja or BMD ( sorry not available from Matox or Motu)
Codecs available for this workflow are ProRes4444, DPX, Targa, Tiff, and Open EXR, Aja offers both Log and Linear video codecs that work on their cards and the tools to create or playback DPX frames.
Note that working with DPX files require massive disk arrays that can process and playback data at over 250 Megabytes per second but these files are the most commonly universal format used in High end Post.

hey daniel.
I ran out of my Aja Hi5 converters, so I took the HDMI feed out of the camera and used the kipro as a really expensive converter so that I could preview and focus the darn things.
This is one of the biggest issues with the DSLR movement- you cannot comfortably focus on a 2.5in LCD screen that only shows 150 lines or so of resolution.
FYI it can record Playback from any of the cameras, but the Live HDMI video out is currently restricted do to HDMI/ HDCP Digital Rights issues AND the fact that a live V-out makes it a video camera with higher import duties.
SPOILER ALERT– I wrote a behind the scenes article about the Zacuto Shootout that will be published as part of the NAB SuperMeet Magazine, I tech edited Rich Harrington’s new book called “Stills To Motion” on the DSLR video movement and most people do not know I made my living as a Still Photographer for many years.

“trash all the AJA prefs, since it should default to 525 since that is the first setting in the list.
Remember if you are not an ADMIN user you will not be able to set prefs and make them stick.
