Reeinstalling the software and firmware for the card takes about 10 minutes. Depends on how twine you want to loose not having it working.

Olof, which Product? that is not an AJA product name, there is No HDe card.
if you are talking about the original Kona HD card I do not think it is supported.

The default format for 1080 is PsF (interlace) which AJA calls 25i because of EU labeling laws
If you are talking about TRUE P playback you need to re-install and select the P setups- they are rarely used outside of RGB workflows and not installed by default.

Alexa’s internal recording of ProRes would qualify for both. Internal audio recording will be as 24bit 48K to conform to the highest Apple spec for ProRes but the quality would depend on whether you are shooting as PR4x4, HQ or you choose to capture as ProRes LT or Proxy as offline materials and then link back to the uncompressed or Arriraw masters that were recorded externally.
The Alexa shown at CineGear showed all 5 flavors of ProRes were available and that would allow offline/ online or with the mastering versions of ProRes there is no reason that Direct to Edit could not be implemented

EH- this makes absolutely no sense to me- the Kona Control ONLY handles input, output and conversion- there are no codecs anywhere in the Kona Control panel that I have ever seen and I have been working with Kona’s for 10 years.

I ran across the Harris problem over a year ago- to be for everyone else reading this- the Kona is not talking directly to the Harris legalizer-
We are talking about the HDSDI video signal from the Kona Cards often includes some SMPTE RP188 and other metadata as part of the spec that the Legalizer does not understand and there for chokes on.The signal I was working with was fully in spec according to the Leader and Tektronics scopes and test equipment yet the Harris was still choking on it the signal- the second I switched to a file that did not contain any ancillary (Meta) data- the Harris problem was fixed and we kept working.

Cinemage is a Monitor from CineTal systems- it cannot debayer anything,

You cannot edit in H.264 files in FCP easily.
the debayering process is part of the conversion to DPX if they are using GT PhantomCine Products.
DPX files are still frames designed to be edited in a highend post facility and you will not be able to handle the files in real time on ANY laptop as you will not be able to playback the 200+ MBps thruput to handle the DPX files on a laptop.
It sounds like you are in pretty deep, and IMHO this workflow is way beyond your equipments capabilities.
Why not have them convert to ProRes HQ files and edit with those, it will be much easier.

Since Photo jpeg is not technically supported in the latest versions of FCP this does not really surprise me.
What did aja support say.

Why? I see no reason why your disk storage manager is conflicting with the Video Card Control Panel- something sounds very wrong here- these 2 things have absolutely nothing to do with the functions of the others.

I can assure you that you DID NOT update the firmware- this is a manual process that is NOT part of the installation process- you need to go to the aja utilites folder and run the Kona Firmware updater.

No- you need to choose DPX , TGA or Tiff as the format for the still- you cannot use a video codec for still files

“I had no issue at all converting your movie to DPX ( I did this on my laptop in 20 secs)
OK first off while you are switching between all of these options did you bother to install and uninstall the firmware for the K3 card.- this is a manual process and is required to be able to have the card function correctly.

What version of VTRX? the current is v4.1 I believe.
How do you have VTRX set up- what still format have you chosen, have you tried tiffs or tga’s?
