yeah, but thankfully FCP is smart in folder order! So you can just select one of the “subclips” and right click to “show in finder” and then you just select all of the clips in the folder and drag them into FCP.

but I agree it is so totally stupid.
Maybe one day the FCP and QT teams may actually talk to each other.

Just a little experience in PAL land David, the BBC sets the standard for a good part of the EU. (yeah but don’t tell the French government)

On your BMD / Canopus conversion — are you watching it on a PAL monitor? You will not be able to correct check it via a DVD. Most of the NTSC to PAL conversions tend to have frame dupes every couple of seconds – creating a momentary stutter – that is very noticeable to PAL users but not really to us in the limited world of NTSC. Try running frame by frame thru your project to see.

The best hardware standards conversions are done by Ukon (SD & HD) and Alchemist ( SD ONLY) systems by Snell and Wilcox

We know, we know,
but it is a QT problem and until there is a new release of QT 7 we are stuck. (and you wonder why no one at apple will call you back)

Careful on “Capture Now” if you plan on going back to finish on other systems! The logging info is not captured
and often FCP screws with the timecode.

I agree on quality and ease of use on the Nattress filters also,
but be careful of doing a software conversion to PAL if your content needs to pass a standards test.
In my experience broadcasters like the BBC will not take anything but hardware conversions of content for transmission.

Yes SMTPE timecode does move over Serial ( RS-422) it an also be passed over the Firewire connection
while the video is passing thru the component out.

something is not right

CMD -9 will tell you the item properties of the SEQ and the individual clips – so my guess the Seq is still set to DV!
