  • Andy,

I have seen a number of pixel based issues with many of the newer cameras that are not visable if the content is not viewed at 100%. This was an issue with the original RED One cameras, offering so much rez when only allowing a low quality 720p output many issues were not seen

June 4, 2012 at 1:27 pm in reply to: “Warning, Low Battery” on AC power.

My best guess is a worn cable, frayed connection or loose plug.

The Connector side of the power coupling can break if the cable is pulled strongly, or if the cable is crushed (like closing a pelican case on the cord) or this can happen if the AC cord is not fully pluged into the transformer brick.

IF you are hard on you your gear, it will protest after awhile.

[Garth Annetts] ” Gary, they don’t need an apologist in this case, they need to effect better customer support communication, one that honestly serves their customer base”

    Garth,
    welcome to working with Apple.

For the record I am not an apologist for Aja. I am only stating the facts as I know them. This product is now 6 years old and that is fairly long in the tooth for modern workflow tools.

Apple has always written the IoHD driver and the device was only ever designed to work with FCP, apple specificly mentions the IoHD update in the ProApps 7.01 Update in Oct, 2009.

Premier and FCPX users note there are still options for using the device with your current worklfows.

[Alan Lacey] ” Does it mean I’ll be able to use my IoHD with FCPX now?”

Not until Apple chooses to allow it.

The IoHD drivers for FCP have always been written by Apple, so Apple will need to update those hooks to allow your IoHD to work with FCPX.

May 25, 2012 at 9:59 pm in reply to: Set clip creation time

[Roger Schroeder] “Does anyone know how to set the clip file creation time”

I find the easest way is to set the internal clock via the web browser, then use TOD timecode, that way the creation time will match the time code.

Note that the internal clock does drift, to maintain as constant timestamp as possible, I would set the time in each unit daily.

May 25, 2012 at 1:18 pm in reply to: Mac not seeing KiPro drive

Sounds like you may have damaged the FW port.

The KiPro uses estata to see the drive.

Have you tried to use the Web interface over Ethernet to retrive the data from the drive module while it is attached to the unit?

May 20, 2012 at 3:27 pm in reply to: ioHD & FCPX – The phantom update

    Guys.

It has been said here before, APPLE has always written the hooks into FCP for the IoHD product, if you do not remember the first builds of FCP7 blocked the IoHD and it took Apple months to release a FCP update that once again allowed the IoHD to access directly in the app.

https://support.apple.com/kb/TS2521 and scroll down to the 7.01 release notes.

    hey Michael.

As far as I know, you cannot capture to the XDCam codec via a card in a desktop config, you can covert to this codec in software (Compressor or Episode)

[Sebastian Plamadeala] “but the image is at very low opacity. “

Explain flat please or are you talking about the look of the LogC image being very flat?

that is the nature of using the LogC recording, SET the Montior out to LogC also then compare the images

May 7, 2012 at 2:36 pm in reply to: AJA Io XT won’t play out H.264???

[Thomas Frank] “Just to make sure that we are talking about the same Application.”

Thats what I was referring to- Aja changed the name awhile back, it used to only be a playback tool for the boards.

“AJA TV will play it back and display fine on the Mac but the output source is chaos.”

My guess is you are dragging and dropping the file onto the Aja TV Icon. IF so under Lion the App does play ipod compatable files on the desktop.

However you will not be able to play most H.264 files from within the app by using the file open command.(there are exceptions)

Yes they play if dragged from the desktop into the player, but if I try to use the App to open the same file it is greyed out and it is not possible to open the clip.
