    let me help you…

October 21, 2009 at 10:46 am in reply to: Sony f900 Capturing HELP!

[nayim saati] “well the deck says the tape is “30p>>1080″ and i would try capturing it in 30p but in final cut there is no capture settings for 30p… ?????”

    Reinstall your Kona Driver.

the progressive Integer frame rates (24.0/ 30) are not installed by default but the settings are available as an option when you install the drivers.

October 21, 2009 at 10:27 am in reply to: IO shopping, still a good choice?

[Mark Suszko] ” Of the “original flavor” rack mount IO, the IO HD, the IO LHi, which is the best fit, assuming the drivers are going to get written?”

    good response Mark.

and a good assumption that drivers will be written. Even Aja’s president has posted on this forum about the drivers <https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/150/860248>

Your usage would depend on your needs, I am currently working with an IoXpress which is designed for immediate playout from the vast number of tapeless cameras on the market without trouble.
I am working with FCS3 and Snow Leopard due to the size and my current playback needs, and the size of this unit made since for my current projects.

October 20, 2009 at 10:16 pm in reply to: Edit to tape issues

[Suzy Shaw] “I am trying to master to Digital Beta and just can’t seem to get it to work. I’ve done this many times with other formats without problems. “

Use the correct Easy setup for your format- it sounds as if you changed some of the setting without changing all of the required parameters.

October 20, 2009 at 10:13 pm in reply to: KONA LHi clip settings issue

[Brian Wheeler] “does anyone know how to get the sliders on the ‘clips settings’ tab non-greyed out?”

Capturing via a Digital source does not allow for user input control

Capture via Analog should give you full control.

October 20, 2009 at 9:38 pm in reply to: red camera and the new imac

[Matt Devino] “It should work OK as long as you put as much RAM in it as you can afford and get the faster quad-core. A mac pro with 8-cores is optimal. “

That is not the best advice,

YES, you can work with RED footage on any intel based mac you have to take into account that RED cameras captures images at the extreme high end of the spectrum.

iMacs are consumer products and not IMHO designed for that kind of work, I think you would be frustrated at what can be accomplished on a computer with no video out and only FW for connectivity. RED does not recommend anything less than a desktop, stating that laptop editing needs to be at 1K frame or less. ( Med Proxy size)

October 19, 2009 at 1:12 pm in reply to: ATTN: Gary….ioHD and COLOR… still only SD?

[Sam Roberts] “just wondering if this is still the case? What are people doing to get around this if they want to use Color and monitor in HD? “

    Sam.

Since the IoHD software has not been upgraded due to issues with FCP7 and Snow Leopard, nothing has changed at this time.

October 18, 2009 at 2:44 pm in reply to: No sound out of Kona 3 BOB

[Naveen Mallikarjuna] “I’m not able to get any sound of my Kona BOB’s channel 1 and 2 RCA outputs. “

are both cables connected to the Kbox from the Kona card?

does your file have audio on it.

are you using speakers? are they turned on? is the audio turned up on them?
are all the cables in good working order?

have you tested all of these things?

[Bram Desmet] “Hope this helps. “

    bram,
I find your posts incredibly informative and let me say that we should be honored that you have chose to help educate COW users. It is often difficult to explain the mind numbing principles of color processing due to the differing implementations every manufacturer uses in their specific panel or processing engine.

It was also a pleasure to meet you at the HDWorld NYC this week.

October 14, 2009 at 10:36 am in reply to: Buy Io HD or New MacBook Pro

[Jeff Mack] “I’d purchase a Ki Pro “

While a good idea, there is no capability to have device control for proper layoff to tape with the KiPro at this time.

The KiPro is not intended to replace the IoHD.
