Thanks for the advice guys,
we are getting ready to move our office so I haven’t had a chance to check out the suggestion yet,
but I definitely was looking at everything in the audio/video settings including easy set-up.There is probably just something funny in the settings somewhere. I will keep looking
Thanks again.

Actually I just realized that I have been doing it right but I haven’t been finding the sound file. It never occurred to me that they would be separate.
Thanks again

I think that is indeed where my issue lies. In the Mpeg 2 pre-set it mentioned audio so I assumed that it automatically would bring the sound with it.
When I am back in the suite tomorrow I will have another go at it.
Thanks for the info.

February 25, 2008 at 12:12 am in reply to: Shooting green/blue screen with poor lightningFor under $50 you can rent nice little 500w softboxes. Use one of those to light the person and use the 800w lights to light the green screen, one on either side and a fair distance away to get an even spread. Keep the subjects as far away from the screen as possible, especially because you won’t have a back light.
Try to borrow a light meter if you can to make sure the light is even. Otherwise put the zebra stripes on and make sure you don’t have any hot spots. You will probably end up doing multiple keys but it shouldn’t be a big deal.

We just had a similar problem where a dancer was wearing a green scarf in front of a green screen (how did nobody notice).
Our compositor airbrushed it light brown frame by frame.
The scarf had a lot of tassels… He didn’t speak to me for a week but it worked. -
Try using the shortcut “option+R” for some reason I find that usually works if nothing in the menu does.

In regards to your flourescent fixtures, if they are older and have magnetic ballasts then you may have trouble with flicker, the newer electronic ballasts shouldn’t be too bad especially with video since I’m guessing you aren’t shooting anything offspeed. Now thats expensive.
Also, make sure you have a good backlight on the talent, it will help overpower any green reflection you may get. Some DP’s like to put a bit of magenta on it as well.
I just a did film with two dance sequences in front of a 20’x60′ greenscreen and the reflectiveness of the grey dance floor that was brought in created absolute havoc.
The key to green screen is how well it’s shot, especially when using the simple tools in FCP. -
