    hi dwaine,
i installed 7.1.1 and i did further tests:

now i have 2 problems about this :

it seems that i have no more shift (being anywhere in teh screen) but sometimes the point does not get set ,when this happen moving the cursour a bit than it does set the point ….

But the main problem is that after i set the point , being on interactive , if i click track forwared , it does not track , it say “no live features to track …”

i tried on Red 2K footage (HD project) and using HD dpx (on HD project)….

so anything i do being on the interacting mode , (even just deleting the deafult assigned points) than the tracker does not track forward…

sorry if i cannot help but i would like to second your requests :

N4: more precise values + i would like to have the possibility to add value manually with a popup numerical pad (let say add 10 point of saturation etc…so you type 10 (instead of sliding the slider or using the panel knob …)

N6: i feel i really need to playback over the SDI of any random clip without add it to the master session and scrolling through it to find that clip … even for watching the offline out of the SDI .. or any random clip … I think an idea to solve this might be the ability to create mini timeline from a subfolder on the media pool …so create a subfolder , import the shot in it , and than create a default timeline of that ….
    make sense?

February 17, 2011 at 2:55 am in reply to: HD grading – scale or clip to legal LUT?

    that it is correct ,

when set on scaled in monitoring , is just the preview on monitor that scale black and white point (it compress the histogram) and internally is full range .

but it is also true that if you layoff to a deck you will layoff that scaled image (that you used for grading ) so it’s ok .

if you deliver a DPX sequence , that sequence will be full , so you have to make sure that who received will play it back on the same condition out of their SDI (for example flame and smoke are scaled by default )

Even FCP is scaled by default .

if you end up with QT file , QT it scale the image as well …

for example : try to grade using scaled and than render out a QT , that grade using full range and render out a QT … you will see that opening the image on teh computer monitor in QT (except for the little difference between you r comp monitor and your SDI monitor ) the QT graded using scaled is closer to what you saw on the SDI

So in my workflow , i always had continuity grading using scaled , but if you use unscaled , QT , FCP , Flame will show a different image (darker blacks )

i guess that full range SDI need to be used only when going out to film printer ..
