But : if you grade using scaled , than output files without lut , and import to FCP :
over the FCP SDI you will have the same scaled signal …
unless you use a particular codec that FCP mess the gamma ….

I am not sure about resolve (never tried this ) , but usually to go from 24 to 25 you have speed up the footage and audio by 4%,
usually the video speed up is handled by the color grading app (changing the framerate (or exporting a QT and than using cinema tools ), but you need to speed up the audio by itself in protools or something , than re import (merge it back together on 25 project )it in the app for playback and sync ..

this is the typical workflow for 24 to Pal (for example how SCRATCH does it)
I am curious if resolve changing the speed of the project it will actually play it back 4% faster (which it should) and not trying to keep the same length interpolating and duplicating frames (like final cut does and than will look horrible)

vladimir that it is what i do usually …

but some people here (no offense) have to realize , that exist client that can afford davinci or flame or lustre , and they don’t care about workaround , or relink to final cut to be able to see the footage , if they know that exist application that can handle grading + conform , they’ll want it …

In this forum i hear many people saying that going back to FCP is not a big deal , etc… my guess is that they don;t have to deal with client that pay quite big money and they go where the Artist + the system can do what they want .

and again resolve is a 150K system not a 1K system as many thinks here …it’s widely famous for features , but at the moment for commercial (where the workflow is faster , more crazy , with very very quick turnaround and not easy conform …well is not the right tool …

from my point of view , i spent 40K on my resolve and i hope that BMD will expand their interest to have the tool to be competitive on the commercial business … if they will not , well i will sell it ….
Or i will decide to work only on features …

that’s exactly it as robin said ,
it’s about us and the client being able to see the multilayer situation going on to be able to take better color grading decision ..

and in my case my clients pretend that …otherwise someone else will grade in on a FLAME (where they can see it together ….)

seems you don’t have clients coming in to supervise the session that want to see the images composited (i mean the multy layer of dissolves ) together to judge …
and when we talk “big clients ”
i can’t say : ops i need 1 hour in FCP now …

when client pay big money , they pretend to see , if resolve can’t… they’ll choose a flame artist …

i just finished an Armani job …it was layer dissolving together for a good 70% of the commercial … i graded separate elements “guessing “how the composite would be …not safe at all for big job ….resolve is great for straight cut edit , many other prof color app already deal with mutilayer timeline need ….

Especially being negative on a request of pay for web classes …
I wish they can organize a 3 day in every city very month …but they can’t…

You underestimate the power of the flame premium suite (flame +lustre )(or even flame by itself …
Any flame artis can handle
Color grading no problem…
And I feel that the market is going towards that direction skipping the color grading room If we can’t even show the composite edit for review …
