March 10, 2007 at 9:00 pm in reply to: Set Production monitor for P2 field playback

[Rumpy the Cat] “The composite out from the camera is always 60P, (in 720P).”

The composite out of the camera in NTSC is 480 only.
You would need to use the component out and make sure you get the optional component I/O board (IF-C101CMG) for the monitor.

  • A half circle denotes that only a section or part of the clip has been imported not the whole clip. So if you put in and out points in the logging window of P2 import then you would get a half circle.
As for the stop motion look you are describing, is the footage at 720/24PN? Do you have the “remove duplicate frames” box checked or unchecked in the P2 import preferences?

  • One of the first quesions I would ask is, what is the minimum and maximum amount of people that will be attending a screening?
Second would be what format is the movie to be projected?
There are a couple of companies in Hollywood that provide trailers with screening rooms for large productions on location so directors can watch their dailies on 35mm, however I think they only seat about 10-15 people.

January 17, 2007 at 6:30 am in reply to: Shooting 60fps, editing 24

[Kerrymcd] “We are editing in Final Cut Pro 5.1.2, and normally shooting DVCPRO HD in 60i on the panasonic AJ-HDX900. Our normal route is to import>Panasonic P2 and it comes in as 29.97”

How are you using the import P2 feature when the HDX900 is a tape based (not P2) DVCPRO HD camera?

January 15, 2007 at 7:01 am in reply to: 720p not drop frame?

    [gary adcock] “Not exactly correct.
Frame Rates below 30hrz are only NDF
Frame Rates at 30hrz or above can be either drop or non drop.

720p60 (as 60hrz or as 59.94hrz) can be drop or non drop. “

    My Bad, you are correct!

If you are looking for something light (pun intended) and dont want to have a bunch of wires hanging off the camera attached to a battery on your belt, then take a look at the Vidled’s. They have a small rechargable battery that is mounted to the light and the whole thing is very light and bright. When I got mine I turned it on and 3 hours later it was still bright. It finally died at 3 hours 20 minutes.
