To find out place a clip in the viewer or timeline that is about a minute, or preferably longer, and take a very close look and see if it holds sync for the length of the clip.
With short clips it is not that noticable as video speed is only 0.1% slower than film speed but over time on longer clips it becomes an issue.
Do you have a post audio house doing the sound on the film? Will they be re-building the dialogue tracks from the dats or will you be exporting an OMF? -
Well in most other countries around the world you can buy an NTSC DVD and it will play in most players. However the other way round usually isn’t the case. Good ol’ NTSC.

Just to clarify a few things here. Being that you are talking about a negative cut, I have assumed the project was shot on film. You did mention that you have 24p clips. This term is normally used in shooting video. So what format was the film telecined to and how ddidd you get it into FCP? If you are indeed digitizing from a tape that was transferred from film you will have to apply a pull down to your dat audio or it will not sync correctly.

Was your audio transferred to the video along with the film in telecine?

When you switch back to the viewer try setting the playhead sync pop-up menu back to video and audio.

Wow, I feel your pain. I bet you wish now you had spent about 10% of your 2 day research time before you actually shot the interviews. I have seen some fairly decent keying done with DV footage in FCP although I have never seen it projected to a 12×12 screen. Unfortunately, being that you have tried so many different options, all with similar results, your problem may go a lot deeper than the keying options you are trying. It may have to do with the lighting used and possibly the seperation between your subject and the green screen, in which case no matter what you try you will end up with similar results.

What do you have the playhead sync pop up menu set to?

I would say the first thing to try is make sure you have linked selection turned on at the top right corner of the timeline.

It’s probably a default setting in your OSx system preferences.

How were your original clips captured? Did you capture now? Log and capture? Batch capture?
