You can use Compressor to convert those at 30p to 23.98p. I’ve done it. It take a while to process them, but it works great. If you want I can send you screen shots of the Compressor settings, send me a message.

I’ve been in that situation before. Mixted frame rates just won’t work. What I did was convert the problem clips using compressor. You can create a custom setting, then brig the clips in and let compressor do it’s thing. What version of FC are you using. You can do it by opening your raw clip in Compressor and converting it to 24p. Use Best settings and match clip length at 100%. At 3:22 on this video you’ll be able to find what you need as far as compressor settings go https://philipbloom.net/2009/05/30/how-to-convert-canon-5dmk2-footage-from-30p-to-24p/ As far as the rest of the video goes, I’ve not worked with a sequence. One thing to note; it takes hours to convert some clips.

Hi…

For me, I know I’m not PAL.

The other troubling aspect of DVD Studio Pro is it lacks 16×9 templates, so when you change a template to 16:9 ~ all it does is stretch it.

Hi…

I shoot 24p with DSLRs so I can’t help with your sequence workflow, but I can comment on the DVD menu quality. It’s nothing you are doing, and it’s not your TV. The quality is just bad.

If anyone has a solution to the quality issue, I’d love to heard it :

Hi… that sounds good Shane. If you’re still there; when in compressor and we select “BEST” for the Rate Conversion, there is also a Set Duration to section. I’m thinking it should be set to match the duration of the raw footage, but one of the options is so source plays at 23.98. What are your thoughts?

I usually transcode using MPEG Streamclip to get my ProRes files, but with changing 30p to 24P I’m a little confused on the steps to take I guess. I was thinking I would take the 30P raw into Compressor, change it to 24P, then I didn’t know if I should edit the new file I get or if there’s another step prior to bringing the files into FCP7.
