Checkerboard is a great way to go. But if you would want more control on the shape of the lines, you could achieve the same with a shape layer. Draw 1 line, adjust to taste and add a repeater. To feather: add blur.

I’d try to do the reverse: key out the grass as good as you can without touching the background. Since the background isn’t a uniform green, you might have to use masks to specify different keys to different regions of background. And after that: start choking and refining.

Good idea, but doesn.t work either.
Actually wether i use mouse or wacom or cursorkeys, to value just jumps to the max value. The only way to lower it again is typing it.
