Thanks for the suggestion. Seems like that will work fine if the segment you’d want to export is at the beginning of the sequence. In general, it just isn’t very efficient.I did find another work-around. Lasso to select the section you want exported and then NEST that selection. I can then export the NESTed section. Still very inefficient though.
I’m really surprised the folks at Adobe haven’t come up with a much more simple way to do this. I do this kind of think in Avid and Final Cut quite often. I’m also surprised that I can’t easily make a subclip from and edited section in the timeline.
Anyway, thanks for the help Chris.

Shane,
What a difference a day makes!! Yesterday when I attempted to transcode the AVC-intra footage in a 1080p/23.976 Avid project. The video would transcrode minus the audio.
This morning, I started fresh. Created a new 1080p/23.976 project. Linked to an AMA volume. Selected one clip to test transcode and it worked fine. So…some bugs in the system maybe?

Michael,
Logically, I agree with you. That was the first setting I used but it did not work. I could not transcode the files to DNxHD.But I probably did something wrong so I’ll try that again tomorrow.
Thanks

OK, had the chance to play some more and still can’t get good quality from our screen captures in Final Cut.
In Motion tab, doesn’t matter what settings I use for scaling…still looks kind bad. Everything is rendered etc.
Resolution size of the screen captures psd file is 2157 x1314, 72 dpi. I know that’s big, but even if a make it smaller, I get the same results.

I’ve tried pngs, tiff, jpegs all the same result. I’m not at my edit suite as I type this and don’t remember the exact resolution/size of the screen-grabs graphics or the settings on the Motions tab. Will get that info here later.
I’ve been editing with Final Cut off and on over the years since version 3 first came out. Just when I thought I’ve seen every possible little problem, this happens. I’m really baffled by it.

Michael,
Thanks for the response. I have an external card (AJA) and monitor. And I tried setting the viewer and canvas to 100%. Still soft and blurry. And yes, everything was rendered. This is strange, all other psd or graphic files are fine. Just these screen grabs.
