Just to add to George’s response, you may experience some problems down the road with your file. Possibly at the rendering stage, because of your frame rate.

if that’s the case, use HandBrake to convert your file to a more friendly and stable format. Remember to always keep your original file intact in case something goes wrong along the way.

Hi Karl

Have you tried to capture your files with the Sony provided software ? Sony had a utility called “ru_util.exe”.

Originally supplied with the HVR-MRC1 recording unit.

Use it first to capture your file and then import to Vegas.

File is only 334kb.

This is what I use to ”hide” the voice of someone that doesn’t want to be recognized.

The best part is that it’s free, easy to use and works beautifully well. I also use it to sometimes speed up (or slow down) the rate of speech of the talent when I have to match a short piece of video without changing the pitch.

Now, for the video part, you can use the 2D tracking feature in the free version of Hitfilm Express. Here are links to tutorials on tracking and integration of Hitfilm with Vegas.

Can you play your audio with something else? Something like Audacity

Your file is in a Mpeg container. Lossy format to boot. For more user friendly info on audio formats, follow this link:
