As far as I know right now only 4:2:2 input and output via HD-SDI are supported. What sources do you use for 4:4:4 material? HDCam SR? What is your workflow?

In case you have access to the AVC Intra codec, you can use it more or less like AVCHD. For AVCHD you need ClipWrap to import the files; for AVC Intra there is a plugin named Calibrated MXF Import that wraps MXFs into a QuickTime format and makes them readable for Media 100 (they have a free trial). I am not sure, but probably Panasonics free AVC-Intra Software Decoder for Mac should work with the Calibrated Plugin. The FCP AVCHD codec does work definitely. -
Could you post one of the clips that crashes the application somewhere? Always difficult to tell without the actual media files.

Actually yes.
When you want to reacquire something, you should make sure to select all instances you want to reacquire. E.g. if you want to reacquire clips that are in a bin and in a timeline, make sure to select both in the Project window before entering “batch reacquire selected”. Each clip lives on its own, and as soon as the link for one clip to its original media files is broken (e.g. by reacquiring it), this does not mean automatically that other instances of this clip will also relink to the new media file automatically. Most of the time this is extremely useful (e.g. if you want to reacquire a timeline from offline to online resolution while keeping the offline version for comparison). But in your case it did not give the results you were expecting; so make sure the next time to select everything you want to link the new media files to.

If you have FCP somewhere you can copy the DVCPro codecs from the Library->QuickTime folder to your system. If not, you could have a look at the DVCPro Decoder from Calibrated. They have a free trial version.

The “bad video frame” means that the system tries to decode a file, but it gets not what it expects. So most likely it imported the files with a codec that is not supported in Media 100. AVC-Intra is right now not a codec that can be played back natively; only with a conversion e.g. via the MXF plugin from “Calibrated”.
When you put the bin in list view, what codecs, framerates and resolutions are displayed for the files? -
Not really sure what you could do wrong there. What codec are they? What resolution and frame rate? Where are your media files?

you probably know that I am not working for Media 100; but here is my point of view on this: Wick showed the new Version 1.5 of Media 100 on Thursday for the first time publicly in the Webinar, as announced in the email newsletter. He said that they are targeting a release in February. Since it is already February and the software (as far as I can tell) still has some bugs, I am guessing that everybody over there works overtime right now to get this out of the door.
The fact that they did the Webinar about an unreleased version at least shows to me that they are not “following Apple on being top secret”, and I bet that the marketing team is finalizing a press release about V1.5, which should be out soon.
They are very interested that people know about the new release, since this is the way they can get users to upgrade to V1.5. I am sure the info you are looking for will be out in the next couple of days. -
I got an email, like one of the usual Media 100 promo mails; and it was posted on their homepage. Plus, it was mentioned in the shownotes of ep21 of the podcast workflowjunkies.com 😉

Looks like the ones who missed the webinar have to wait a little bit longer to get the details 😉
I guess there will be a press release soon about the new features; in the webinar they said that V1.5 is supposed to ship this month. -

No, it does not. The playback components for ProRes are included in the standard QuickTime install; I can´t remember which version of QuickTime started this, but I think it was 7.6 or 7.5. You can look at the Media 100 info screen (in the “About Media 100” window) to see which codecs and hardware options are available. Most likely some of the ProRes codecs are shown as “Playback Only”
