[Lukkee Chong] “How compatible is this version with my system as described below?”

Suite 2 requires MacOSX 10.6, since some of the used technology for the scaling and the Red support is only found in OSX 10.6 and higher. Since 10.6 is only supported on Intel Macs, I guess you are out of luck with a PPC-based system.

  • send me a mail. Mail address is in my previous post.

  • Do you have the Apple DVCProHD codec installed on your system? This is required for the playback. If not, let me know.

Can you post a project/timeline somewhere (as a zip file) or send it over via mail to floh@mac.com? Then I will have a look at it.

May 4, 2011 at 9:27 am in reply to: Ver 13 more troubles

[Mark Foerster] “The only problem is my Adobe after effects needs to be upgraded for 64 bit blah blah”

Which version of AE do you use? At least CS4 works nicely on Snow Leopard.

[Mark Foerster] “everything cutting well but I can’t do any “processing of clips” like fast or slow motion.”

What does happen if you try to process something? A crash? Nothing? Bad results? Some more details (including the wording of the error message if you are seeing one) would be helpful

WMA (as with all Windows Media) is handled through Flip4Mac. They offer a free playback component, but if you want to bring the files into another application you need to buy one of their products. Not sure if there is another application that can convert WMA to something useful for free. Maybe you can ask the guy who sent you the files to send MP3s or AIFFs.

Worked for me from the official download link. Try re-downloading, I guess.

April 11, 2011 at 7:43 pm in reply to: HD to SD conversion in M100?

Do you have a SAN with a FibreChannel software, or do you use FibreChannel as direct attached storage? Usually Media 100 is pretty good at keeping your files linked to the timeline, and even if not a relink should easily find your clips. So either you are seeing some sort of problems with your drives (meaning that there is some data read/write problem), or there is a conflict with your setup.
If you can play the files in QuickTime player they should relink. But you say that it is only rendered media files that are offline? Have you done a Disk repair from within DiskUtility to your media drive?

[Robert L. Kopf] “There’s not an answer to my “Can a current Media 100 system work with v8 timelines, clips, etc.” question in your response.

Yes. At least it should. I haven´t tested it, since I don´t have a V8 system around.

[Robert L. Kopf] ” Can a current Media 100 work with clips, timelines, etc. from old v8 systems?”

[Robert L. Kopf] “Am I missing any crucial concept here?”

    No.

[Robert L. Kopf] “So I’d love to know if there’s any way to connect something like the MX02 devices to an iMac. “

Currently not. Let´s hope for ThunderBolt on the next generation of iMacs

[Robert L. Kopf] “In that scenario, are there any limitations to using the bottom of the line Macbook Pro, other than the obvious speed issues?”

No, only the 17″ MBPs have a ExpressCard slot, which is necessary to connect to the MXO2. There are rumors that there will be a ThunderBolt-version of the MXOs at NAB, but I am not sure if this is only a rumor or not. This would mean that you could use them with all MacBook Pro models, since all current models have a ThunderBolt connector.
Overall a current iMac is a very good editing system; you only need a way to get your material into it (and back out, of course)
