[Michael C.] “How serious is this trimming issue? I’m about a week away from setting up M100HD. Random crashes while trimming in the timeline seems like a pretty major issue. “

For us it usually happens every 4-5 hours of working on a project with much trimming. So it is not really serious, but a little bit irritating. It is nothing that would keep us away from finishing projects or makes us missing deadlines.

[Michael C.] “Was this fixed in 10.1.1 by anychance?”

    No

Usually RS422 remote is much more precise (quicker) than FireWire control. Since the BR-DV3000 has RS422 remote I don

Included is a new version of the hardware test with a new board software revision. After downloading V10.1.1 you should run the hardware test. As far as I know the application itself is unchanged.

[Micajah] “pgraded to 10.1. Siince then, when playing a program that played back great in 10.0, the picture starts off playback correctly, but starts slowing down as if in slomo, audio gets out of synch, and eveventually the pcture starts stuttering to catch-up to the audio.”

Is this a complex program (many layers), and does it use the Media 100 i codec? There have been some changes on how Media 100 i codec is handled in 10.1 vs 10.0, which could need more CPU power per clip/track than in V10.0. But this should only be visible in really complex situations with some layers at the same time.

[Bobby Mosaedi] “Still having a few issues with trimming clips in the timeline though, randomly crashing when i trim clips within timeline, unless i save before i trim… still trying to get to the bottom of it.”

You either could export the bin as a PowerLog file and reimport it again, or you can set your hardware settings as you want them to be, select everything in your bin, press CTRL-CMD-ALT-Shift while selecting batch reacuire (hold the keys through the warning messages). CTRL-SHIFT is to force redigitizing of video at the current hardware settings, ALT-COMMAND is for forcing audio to redigitize at current settings.

Btw, you should be able to mix 640 and 720 Media 100 i clips in the same timeline.

I think (but I could be wrong there) that 844/X only allows storage connected to a RAID controller or FC-card in a 64bit PCI slot. Probably it simply does not believe that you really want to put video on a FireWire drive.

[steve kownacki] “I don’t relish the thought of a OS install. “

I would try reinstalling the OS to another HD. If you have a spare drive or a FireWire disk, install the latest OS to this partition, or buy a cheap (they are really cheap) additional internal IDE disk. This most likely will fix your problem, since we can use the export on all our systems. But keep the “backup” of your current installed system until you have finished all your projects.

[steve kownacki] ” I would re-install 8.2.1 but I have a number of projects in flux and assume it won’t open 8.2.2 projects.”

V8.2.1 does open V8.2.2 projects, and obviously V8.2.2 does open V8.2.1 projects as well. With these little version numbers the compatability works both ways.
