In V8.2 some changes have been made for OSX 10.3. V8.1.1 is only supported (and does work reliable) up to OSX 10.2.x

Yes, only when the CTI does not move. Maybe a future update could get realtime draft playback for dissolves and opacity keyframes, but for uncompressed HD you would need big RAIDs to deliver two streams of HD footage.

The regular HD formats are 16:9. So how are the clips delivered if they are 4:3? With black bars at the sides? Or with a wrong pixel aspect ratio? On tape or on disk?

For online quality from DVCam I would suggest something around 240k PAL. DVCam data rates are lower than that, but since the signal gets converted to uncompressed and then recompressed to the Media 100 i codec it makes sense to keep the data rate higher. On recompression artifacts could appear when using lower data rates.

E.g. AfterEffects. Or Media 100 sw, which is quite good at mixing 4:3 and 16:9 material.

It depends on which company you will work with. If you are doing a tape-to-tape correction you should play out a DigiBeta master from an uncompressed timeline and an EDL for detecting the cuts. This should be from the finished show, but before any logos/titles/credits are applied. After you get the finished, graded mastertape you can then digitize and insert the parts where you need titles. Usually we would do that to a dub of the graded master which would get our final master.

Yes, they should be included. I think you cannot buy the OEM cards separate from Aja.

Nothing for Media 100. The ICE boards were rendering accelerators for AfterEffects (for special “Iced” effects). But DualG4s are definitely faster than ICE FX for 99% of all effects.

In the “Import” dialog box, set Aspect ratio to 16:9. Or select your clip in your Bin and use the Media->Change Media Attributes
