Yes, this is a problem. In fact this is supposed to be a feature which has some side effects. The problem is that Media 100 uses RGB16-235 for its legal levels but everything Apple does uses RGB 0-255. So when encoding e.g. a Media 100 stream in Apple Compressor the blacks are too high and the whites are too low. Therefore the engineers at Media 100 have changed everything that goes through the QuickTime export function and scales it from RGB16-235 to RGB0-255. Unfortunately there is no way to scale the image back into the legal range when reimporting something into Media 100 HD, giving you the results you are seeing. I think some work will be done on that for Version 11 to use the QuickTime exporter and stay both in the Apple RGB range and to create files that can be re-imported into HD.

It could be a problem with the JPEG. When opening the JPEG file, go to the Image->Mode menu and make sure it is set to “RGB”. Then do the invert.
Does the inverted logo look okay? Basically what -

If the logo really is black with a white background this is pretty easy.
First, open your document in Photoshop
– Create a new RGB document with 768*576 Pixels (PAL) or 720*540 (NTSC)
– Make the whole image black
– go to the “Channel” palette and create a new channel (button in the lower right corner). You now should see “5” channels, RGB, Red, Green, Blue and Alpha. Actually these are only 4 channels, since RGB is Red, Green and Blue together
– Select the “Alpha channel” in the channel palette and make sure that it is black
– Open your jpeg with the logo
– Select all (CMD A) and invert the Logo (CMD I), Copy it (CMD C)
– Back to your new image. Make sure that ony the “Alpha” channel is selected/blue in the layer palette. Paste your Logo (CMD-V).
– Place and resize your logo as needed. Remember that you should stay within the title safe area to view the whole logo on a video screen
– If you click on the eyes next to RGB in the chanel palette you should see much red with a black logo where you have placed it. Actually the B&W logo is acting as an alpha channel for your black RGB layer. This way you don -
In the CPG it is recommended to put the expansion card in Slot 4 and the storage card in Slot 2. The slot 4 is a 133MHz slot while slots 2+3 are 100MHz only. Maybe the Expansion chassis needs some extra performance and changing the cards to the suggested order does make the difference for your setup.

Are you running Media 100 i V8.2.3a? What kind of storage do you use? Where is your storage (SCSI/Fibre/SATA) card, in the chassis or in the G5? Have you placed the cards according to the CPG?

You definitely should download the free Trial version of Graffiti 4 and give it a try to see if this would fix your problems.

The “Unrender Selected Clips” does work for all kinds of clip effects (ColorFX, Motion Path, Flip/Flop), but unfortunately not for TimeFX.

There is a preference setting for “opening last project”. If you turn that off double-clicking on a project file will open Media 100 with that project most of the time (if you don
