The “old” HDx based systems work in the PCI-X G5s (the ones without DualCore CPUs). The “new” Aja based systems work in the new PCIe based G5s (DualCore). The “old PCI”-based PCI-X and the newer, faster PCIe are not compatible, they use completely different interfaces and slots. There is no way to use the same board in both PCI-X and PCIe systems.

The V11 software Media 100 is working on will be both for the HDx hardware as well as for the “new” Aja models. So the existing users will get additional features and bugfixes with it. Plus, unfortunately Apple changed their hardware design from PCI-X to PCIe (PCI Express), which requires new boards. So it is necessary to support new hardware to be able to work with the latest Apple hardware.
Regarding the bugs: you definitely should send them via mail to Media 100 techsupport, and you also can post them here. Best would be to include a detailed description and a way to reproduce them, this will increase the likelyhood that they will get fixed soon. Only if the engineers know about the bugs and can reproduce them the chances that they will get fixed are high.

Two things: for effects like dissolves you can turn on the “draft quality” in Media settings or Project settings->Real Time, and then you should be able to see them in draft in realtime. Don

Inside your Applications->Media 100 i folder should be a folder labeled Adobe AfterEffeccts Plugin. In that folder is the Media 100 XML Project Importer. Copy this into your Applications>Adobe AfterEffects->Plugins->Standard->Format folder and you should be up and running.

Did you put the *new* Plugin for AE (the one that gets installed with V8.2.3a) into the correct AE folder? It is right that V8.2.3 now exports XML files to AE, and you need the new plugin to read them.

Is it a movie or a still? Anyway, on import make sure to set the aspect ratio setting to “16X9” in the import dialog. What system/version are you using? In Media 100 HD/sw and I think in V8.2 and up you can set the aspect ratio also in the “Change media attributes” dialog (for clips in a bin).

Are you trying to insert or assemble to a striped tape? Usually this message only appears when the tape does not have timecode on it (or if the tape is not moving, obviously).

The original Vincent board does not support 601 formats (720*576 and 720*486) at all. Are you sure you have a Vincent 601?

E.g. the ATI X800 does work. It has a Dual-Link DVI port for driving one 30″, and it only takes one slot. We have one in one of our HD systems without a problem (but with 2 23″ Cinema displays, not with a 30″).
