  • Exporting AE renders to import as 16×9

What render settings do i need or import settings in m100i to get media100 to recognize my imports as 16×9? this is really frustrating because it will only interpret them as 4×3.

    After Effects:
    Composition Settings:
    NTSC D1 720×486
Pixel aspect ratio: 1.2 NTSC/DV widescreen

    Render Settings:
    Field dominance: Lower

    Output module:
Media 100 NTSC 720, medium quality

    Media 100i hardware settings :
    720×486, 16×9 , 48,000 audio

what else do i need to do?

[Bobby Mosaedi] “what else do i need to do?”

In the “Import” dialog box, set Aspect ratio to 16:9. Or select your clip in your Bin and use the Media->Change Media Attributes

there is no way to change your aspect in the bin. I tried changin media attributes and the only thing it lets me change is my input setup, reel name and clip name. There has to be a way. Does nobody else create AE renders for 16×9 timelines?

    Hi Bobby,

When you import the clip into media100, rather than drag it into the bin, use the import option from the menu. From here you can set the aspect ratio of the incoming clip in the drop down at the bottom. Although it defaults to “honor file’s aspect”, setting it to “Use 16:9 aspect ratio” will have the desired effect.
