Are your Media 100 HD ouput settings set up correctly? (Media 100 preferences->Video ouput). For SD video you should connect to SDI 2 out, and set SDI 2 out to SD. This setting can vary from configuration to configuration, so if it works in one config it could be set to someting else in another config and therefore e.g. output 1080i, which would not work with SD gear.

RS422 is a connection format for remote, the thing that e.g. Betacam decks have as a remote control from Media 100. There is for example the Sony DSR45A, which has RS422 control and Analog Component ins and outs. But there are others that may be cheaper who do the job also, depending on what you need for connections (Inputs and Outputs).

Are you really running that on OSX 10.2.3? Then you probably have your reason for the problems. If not, have you installed a 3rd party transition ala BorisFX? Do you use the latest version of these effects?

There are DV players that have a RS422 remote connection and therefore should work with NuBus systems without problems, giving you a deck control as you would have with e.g. a Beta deck.

If you select the Project file in the Finder and you aren in Column view you should not only see the date modified but also date created. To locate your Project in the Finder Command-click on the Project name in the top area of the Media 100 project window (or just search for it in the Finder).

You need to place the “Media 100 XML Project Importer” in YourAE7Folder->PlugIns->Standard->Format. Then AE7 will take the XML files.

Yes, I think that was the setting; as I said, I did not try it but it is said to fix the performance problems.

It is something about the XServe RAID settings with Firmware 1.5. When I tried to install 1.5 on our RAID I ran into the same performance problem, and since I had no time to troubleshoot and no reason to upgrade I downgraded to 1.32 (or whatever the last version before 1.5 was) and everything is fine. I think I read somewhere (probably here) about a possible solution for this problem. Try searching the archives, maybe somethings shows up. Btw., which FC controller do you use?

the files digitized in Media 100 are in a special “Codec”, the Media 100 codec. This codec is required to “explain” QuickTime how to read the files. Go to the download section of the Media 100 website and download the Software Codec there. Your Media 100 system has the Codec in its hardware, it is a chip that decodes and encodes these files. So if you want to use the files on a Computer that does not have the Media 100 hardware you need this codec. Once you have installed it FCP can read the Media 100 files.
Unfortunately FCP is not very good in mixing different codecs on a timeline, so maybe you have to convert the files into a codec the FCP setup does “like”.
