If you are using a “clean” project approach (meaning that only media from this project and no shared media is in the folders that are in your Media locations) you can use the “Find Media” command. Search for all unused media files in your master timeline (video, audio or whatever you want to delete). A bin gets created with all unused clips in it. If you are on Media 100 i you can only record the “original” sample rate via the digital inputs. Unlike on Media 100 V10 and up no sample rate conversion happens on digitizing your footage. Did you digitize into 720? If yes, then also render into 720 codec. Make sure your AE comp is 720*486 pixels, not 720*480, otherwise you will get something that looks like a field order problem (but is not really).

A RAID or Array is a set of drives that are “joined” to give higher data rates. E.g. if you have 2 drives on individual SCSI/SATA/FibreChannel connections and you “stripe” them together as a single RAID 0 volume you get nearly twice the read and write speed you would get from those drives individually. Additionally you can stripe 3 or more drives in a RAID 5 array, which not only gives you quicker read and write speeds but also protection. If one drive in a RAID5 setup fails the data is not lost, since one drive contains “parity” data which allows reconstruction of the original data on the fly. Yes, this is a known issue. The iFinish transcoder currently does not work with QuickTime 7 on Windows. You should downgrade to QuickTime 6.5.x to use the Transcoder on Windows.

Yes, remove the transcoder and install the Media 100 codecs on your G5 (and either upgrade to V8.2.2a or install the codecs according to the instructions on your Media 100 i system also). This should fix the crashings.

Make sure that the footage in AE gets interpreted correctly to make things easier. Right-Click the file in the Project window and use the “Interpret Footage” command to set it to widescreen.

Anyone?…”When importing 16:9 clips rendered from AE into Media 100 make sure that in the Import window under Aspect Ratio “Use 16::9 aspect ratio” is selected. If you already have imported the file, simply reimport it again with the 16:9 setting; it should come in immediately with the correct aspect ratio. In V10 and later you can change the aspect ratio for clips in the application, but I think this was not the case in V8. So reimport and you should be okay.
