The question is what you need and what you want to spend.
When thinking about a new Media 100 hardware the question is if you want to have the option to work in HD or not. For us luckily the tools always created opportunities. Quickly after we got our first HD system we got a request for a HD production. When we bought our first HD system we had not a real need for a HD solution, but the fact taht we had the possibility to work in HD gave us access to this job and some more that followed it. If you are working on a Mac, download the Media 100 codec from here. These codec can read and write Media 100 files.

Two questions: if you are measuring your SDI out from the deck directly via SDI, and then through the Media 100 system (SDI in and out), is there a difference?
And if you digitize black in Media 100 into the Media 100 i codec and open the resulting clip in AfterEffects, does the clips RGB 8bit values read as 16,16,16? If yes, then the setup probably is added on output…Floh

Both. Native DV PAL footage is lower field first, PAL Media 100 files are upper field first (and do get interpreted correctly in AE automatically)

This should not happen. Maybe a bad render file? I would try rendering again.

But however I export it, the entire film suffers from nasty interlacing artefacts whenever there’s significant horizontal motion. Interestingly this occurs for both the straight and After Effects shots.
I should point out that the After Effects shots were used with the Separate Fields setting turned off in the Interpret Footage window.”The question is how you watch the clips. Everything that is interlaced will look fine on a video monitor (as long as the field order is correct) but will look bad on a computer screen, since it is displayed progressive there.

It is not possible to open timelines from sw or HD in Media 100 i. You only can export self-contained clips from sw and import them into Media 100 i for mastering.

Update: As I thought, HD Clips on the V1-V99 tracks with opacity breakpoints also play back in realtime over the backg video on V11 on the old hardware.
