[Bobby MV] “i imagine media encoded with v11 software and v10 software have some difference, because v10 media from HDX will not work on AJA media 100 hardware.”
It is the other way round. Media captured in Aja will not play on V10/HDx. Everything you capture in V10 will play in V11 on both hardware platforms.

[Michael Slowe] “Can I ask you whether you are certain that version 11.5 (or even 11) will allow real time viewing of dissolves and opacity when editing in un compressed HD because my re seller in London was not as certain as you appeared to be in one of your recent posts.”
Dissolves definitely play in realtime on a Dual2.5/HDx system with uncompressed HD on V11. Opacity breakpoints also I think, but I

[Andy Taplin] “I am using QT7 on the PC as well as Mac. When I try to open a M100 QT I just get the colapsed QT player (with greyed our buttons) as if opening an audio file.”
It is not a problem on the Mac with QT7, only on the PC. So it seems like Cinemacraft does not use the standard QuickTime access to the files but uses something own via the Transcoder which still works. QT7 with the Transcoder does not work.

Hi Bobby,
yes, FCP simply was not designed to do an offline-online workflow, and redigitizing is a really tricky process. And the fact that you cannot mix different codecs in a timeline in realtime (like an offline and online clip) is stupid. So good to see that you are back in the Media 100 camp!

Both Procoder and QuickTime usually work with the iFinsih Transcoder. The only reason I can think about right now why this does not work on your system is that you are using QuickTime 7. The Transcoder currently is not compatible with QT7 on Windows (and I would guess that it does not get an update anytime soon), so maybe that

[Ajmetz] “When you say material will have to be rendered up for editing, do you mean it will slow import to SW, or will it fast import? Or can you even open Media100i Projects with SW?”
You can import Media 100 i media files, timelines, projects and bins directly without rendering. Be aware that once you saved a project/bin/program in Media 100 sw you will not be able to open them again in Media 100 i. Timelines/Bins/projects can be exchanged in both ways with Media 100 HD (and the Aja based SDe) only.
[Ajmetz] “Getting it back to 7.5 – Export a QT from SW – that’s kinda what I thought I might have to do. =P Hopefully, if still in the Media100i codec, it would fast import. But correct me if I’m wrong.”
If you export as self contained while you stayed in the Media 100 i codec in SW you should be able to fast import the files into Media 100 i. In Media 100 V8.2.2 there was a bug that it did not fast import which was fixed in V8.2.3, and I don

[Nickel] “Question: I’m most impressed with M100 HDs ability to throw nearly any format on the timeline. Is this also possible with FCP and an AJA card?”
Yes and no. You can mix codecs on the timeline in FCP, but not in realtime. So if you throw something other than the selected timeline Codec on the Timeline, FCP has to render it. Thie also limits the use of Alpha channel files in FCP, since many codecs (like DV, DVCPro) don

[Al J. Marschke] “You can defrag the 844 PC. But last I heard it’s a no no to defrag a Mac Media 100.”
I never heard that, and I don

Do you have the newest version of StuffIt? Some older versions may not unstuff the files correctly. Or try re-downloading the Installer. And make sure you have a V8.2 encryption code for your board. The upgrade from V8.1 to V8.2 is not free.
