  • Looks to me like you’ve got the best possible workflow to tackle this problem.

Not Sure why you’d need to [richrama] “chopping and arranging each sequence in the timeline to be a single frame each” ?

If it’s apllying the Expression to all the different layers that’s a pain to you: you can “copy expression only” off of the first, select 89 layers and hit paste.

The problem is CC sphere is an efffect that has to render pixels out,
it takes whatever you input to it, converts that into pixels (even vector .ai, continously rasterized pre-comps or texts) and then wraps them around a sphere.

So if you come close to the sphere or increase the radius you’re inevitably going to bump into pixelation.

The workaround is to create a Huuuuge pre-comp of several thousand pixels wide containg your text-wireframe.
You apply a CC sphere with a large radius to that and scale the layer down, but even then, at some point you’ll see pixelation, and it will render very slowly.

perhaps it’s best to do something like this in a 3D app.

Or can you post a still of what it should look like before the pixelation becoms too severe ?

Text-layers are indeed Vector Layers: notice that little ‘rasterize continuosly’ switch: you can’t even turn it off !

If you have multiple text-layers try this:

A sure-fire way to keep their positioning relative to the comp consistant:

    – create a Null Layer,
    – fit it to the comp-size
    – parent all your text-layers to the null.
    – copy-paste them into the new larger comp.
    – resize the Null so it fits this Comp. (Use fit to height or fit to width if the new comp has a different aspect ratio)
    – delete the Null.

In my experience it can happen any way you hide it, be it by alt-clicking on the desktop or another application, choosing hide-this, choosing hide others etc.

The real Workaround is indeed minimising so the miniature window sits in your dock.

On the plus side: the app’s still responsive, so you can switch back and do an “increment & save” in the dark:

just click on the icon in the dock
    hit “Shift-Option-Command-S”,
then do a force-quite or even a regular Command-Q may work. (if there are no invisible nagging dialogs preventing ou from quitting.

Happens at least 3 times a day to me.

You don’t have the Auto-orient enabled on the camera do you ?

If it’s set to orient towards point of intrest, the camera will turn around when it has passed the sphere. That will give you somehint like the ‘startposition’ again

    I like rapidshare.de:

    files up to 100 Megs
    Not too annoying advertising
Keeps the files for 30 days after their last hit.

for a Hue/Saturation plug-in that is a bit more logical in what and how you can keyframe, try “Color Balance (HLS)”
It lacks selective desaturation though. (eg. desaturate the reds only)

These types of things are usually done with the “write-on” effect; you can set it so it reveals your layer, or do it on a solid, and trackmatte.
You can have multiple paths that are stroked sequentially etc.

I know there’s some tutorials around here somewhere, one about plants, and one about animating a handwritten signature.

  • How far does it get ? Plug-ins, fonts ?

try disabling those and try again.
