AE 7 crashes on opening in OS 10.4.7 – anyone else?
Hi Guys,
Since I upgraged my MBP to OS 10.4.7 last week After Effects 7 will load up the splash screen but then crashes every time and goes no further.
Has anyone else run into this, or does anyone know of any solutions to making it work again?

How far does it get ? Plug-ins, fonts ?
try disabling those and try again.

Hi, This happened to me this morning when I migrated AE7 to my new mini mac via a fire wire. I then went and made sure all Apple updates were current and then repaired permissions twice (one pass isn’t enough) and it loaded fine then. Good luck, it’s frustrating eh?

Hi,
It got to the Initializing User Interface.
So incredibily infuriating. I checked and all software/Apple was totally up to date. Tried repairing permissions, though I only did it once. Didn’t work, and I am right now going through the process of reinstalling FCP and AE after doing a reformat and install.
Was desperate to get it going. Though now I’m tempted to got back to 10.4.7 and try again. Don’t want to have to go through this headache again though, probably better left as is for now.

Jase, try re-doing permissions twice, per Larry Jordan the Zen Master of Final Cut don’t despair. Cheers
