  • Yeah I was thinking that’s the only solution, was just wondering if there was another way.
For example if I needed to re-link only one file (if it was deleted or misplaced) I’d have to re-link each layer, it wouldn’t be automatic.
Anyway, it wouldn’t be the end of the world!

August 14, 2012 at 11:08 am in reply to: Converting 3D layer motion to camera.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the replies.

Yeah it is necessary to zoom the camera in instead of zooming the 3d layer, as I’m using some Particular effects which are parented to the 3D layer. So when the 3D layer moves towards the camera, because of the Particular trail effects parented to it, it is very apparent that the 3D layer is moving and not the camera.

The motion is quite complicated as I’ve parented the layer to a number of other layers (the camera needs to appear to be orbiting around a certain country after the zoom-in on earth), so it’s not just a simple scale-up.

I think perhaps what might work is if I track the motion of the 3D layer using Mocha and then apply it to a camera, I think it won’t be 100% accurate but it might work.

Anyone have any experience with that?

    Thanks again for the replies,
    Fergal.

  • Worked for me too. Yay.

Thanks for all the help and advise, I did have Perian installed to no avail, and also had no luck with changing FourCC of the files.

So in the end I had get onto a PC, open files in Quicktime and export to uncompressed MOVs, which Quicktime on my mac can play.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the quick response. FFdshow doesn’t seem to be available for Mac, is there any other way to reset RV24 libavcodec as you suggested on Mac OSX?

After trying google, some people tried Perian for other AVI codec problems, but alas I already have that installed with no success with my RV24 codec AVI files.

    Thanks again.

December 16, 2009 at 12:36 pm in reply to: MPEG2 Trouble

The client needs it in HD, and there is no audio, so don’t have worry about that.

It may be a case that it can only play SD, I’ve asked the client to send me on video that already plays on the system.

    The guy I’m dealing with, who is trying to get these files to play, contacted dZine and they sent a list of extensions that should work;

    Videos: .mp1, .mp2 , .mpg , .mpe , .mpeg , .mpv , .mpa , .m1v , .m1p , .m2v , .m2p , .avi , .vob , .ts , .tsi

What software should I be using to export with these extentions?

I’m using After Effects, FCP, and Compressor, when I export through these, the default extensions are .mpeg, .m2v, and .m2t.

In compressor it allows me to change the extension when exporting, but should this make a difference to file itself, isn’t that like simply renaming the extension on the browser?

I tried using other video converter software, but they couldn’t export to HD.

If anyone can recommmend some software or a workflow it;d be fantastic.

December 15, 2009 at 8:47 pm in reply to: Editing 50i 60i and 25p together

it’s going to be a PAL DVD and a HD mpeg2 file for playback on a PS3 (I’ll be going with compressor’s program stream preset).

So I guess converted the 60i to 25p or 50i is the best option, any advice?

It’s annoying really, there were 3 cameras set up, and one was on 60i when it should have been 50i.

    Any help much appreciated.
    Cheers.
