  • PAL or NTSC?

Posted by Fergal Cunningham on June 5, 2008 at 3:47 pm

    Hey,

Few quick questions, making copies of a SD-DVD to be sold in the US but also it would be great if they worked in Europe as well. I’ll be making them all region free, but is there any way around the NTSC/PAL thing? They have to be one or the other, correct? If I have to choose one, will it definitely not play in the other format?

    Thanking you,

Very few players/TVs in the US will play PAL DVDs, a lot of players/TVs in Europe will play NTSC, so if you have to choose one NTSC is really the only option.

You are correct any DVD can only be NTSC or PAL they cannot be both.

Actually, almost ALL sets in europe play NTSC.
Only the very old TV sets have problems.
So indeed, NTSC is the way to go.
