Share is a feature since fcp 7 that, among other things, transcodes for and upload to youtube. Compressor is a separate application from Final Cut Suite 3.

In Compressor in pressets Formats/MPEG-2 you’ll find three presets that are frame-rate and resolution off based

Take a look at sequence settings. Make sure they match the clip and the latter itself is in format compatible with FCP.

There is a well documented workflow for RED files in FCP. Why didn’t you check it before jumping with your both feet in? You’re told by FCP that reel names didn’t match. That was your first red flag that something went sour. Are you working w/ proxy files or final ProRes?

Use Share/Compressor preset for youtube. Leave default settings they’ll do just fine. Available since FCP7.

It happens when one uses non-optimized media (non standard res or jpeg/tiff/png/h.264 compressor) or media on time-line is in preview mode and requires rendering (green line).

It’s always a tradeoff. You either have great bitrate and video quality and lose some folks with limited bandwidth or have reduced bitrate and people mediocre video quality.
Use CDN to deliver video content. There are ready-to-go solutions on market with fair price tag attached.

Take a look at amazon.com cloud services – they are very affordable. Anyway it’s all about web server technologies and FCP/Compressor have little saying in this regard.

If you’re gonna stream your video you need a stream server. If you’re gonna use “progressive-download”, or “pseudo-streaming” you may realize it yourself on any php or similar web server. Compressor can encode movies optimized for streaming/downloading with proper meta-data. Use h.264 codec for .mov .flv, .mp4, .f4v container.
Adjustable bitrate means that you have a number of files with different bitrates that client web browser can choose from within depending on bandwidth.

You need to register at sony biz and download software for working/converting EX3 footage. Search for XDCAM Transfer.
