    Hello,

Been a while since needing to post and apologies if this has been mentioned before…

Ive been given a bunch of footage shot at a press conf of a hard drive and the original media was shot on an EX3 I believe.

Anyway, the files are all in folders and are .mp4 files.

There are a bunch of .smi/.ppn/.xml etc files in there but the only way of viewing the .mp4 is through VLC media player. However I need to do a quick edit with it but FCP etc doesnt recognise the files.

Every bit of software out there to convert mp4 only converts 50% of it for the trial version and I dont want to waste money on some bitty software I will use once.

Mpeg streamclip doesnt work and Im not sure what will.

    Any Ideas/suggestions?

You need to register at sony biz and download software for working/converting EX3 footage. Search for XDCAM Transfer.

I downloaded the Sony software from their Canadian site without having to register.

converting MP4 to Apple ProRes with a third party software.
i saw trial version of some software can suppport using 6-7 times for free. and also it has no limit to the length of the video itself.
