    Hi David,
    Thanks for your response.
    Still confused though… I’m ok with parenting, nulls and cameras, but here I think the order in which i do things is crucial..
    my steps so far..

    1. Import track, make 3d
    2. Add Null (name it path) paste positionals (from AI)
    3. Add Camera
    4. Add Master Null, parent Path Null and Track, then rotate Master Null x90
    5. Parent Camera to Path Null, auto orient camera to path.

    And the camera flies around in a really odd way.. and it doesnt work at all!!!
    Any chance you could give me a short step by step, Ive been at this for hours now and my deadline draws closer…

    That was v helpful and I came up with this..

    Now I just got to learn a bit about texture mapping and animation…

    your absolutely right, its all about matching the z value of your precomp and parent comp, seems so obvious now!
    now i can get on with designing..
